Cru delle Argille · Monofloral
Sulla
The minerality of clay
The red bloom of the Irpinian clay meadows, harvested in May.

Character
One place,one season
Sulla, or French honeysuckle (Hedysarum coronarium), is a legume with purple-red flowers that grows wild on the clay meadows of the southern Apennines. Outside Sicily, Sardinia and Irpinia it is almost unknown.
The mineral-rich clay soils around Conza give it a herbaceous and mineral profile, with a grassy freshness that cleanses the palate.
2026 vintage · the weather
An early summer drought concentrated the nectar, giving this monofloral a more intense, lingering sense of place and a particularly marked scent of alfalfa.
